Thanks to an overnight temperature of -6 (or there abouts) the airfield was firm and suitable for driving around on and, more importantly, launching from. Unfortunately, along with the good news comes some bad news – Jeremy and Paul P were the first to arrive and discovered signs of a break-in. One padlock held on the main container so they didn’t get in there but things were bent and it wasn’t possible to simply unlock the doors. Bill C and Peter E came to the rescue with angle grinders so we did get into the container. Peter also came armed with welder and made repairs, Steve B made a shopping trip for new padlocks.
Ground remained frosted in the shadow of the ridge
A late start to the flying but we still managed to clock up 21 launches on a sunny, but nippy, day. All the flight times were single digit with one exception. We are still trying to figure out how Rob J managed 14 minutes. JPC was back on-line so Bob B did the check flight and demonstrated that it could spin (both ways) and loop. 2 annual checks completed, donuts eaten and Tony P’s home made chocolate muffins were polished off.
